 JUSFC accepting applications for 2013 US-Japan Creative Artists Fellowship Program. Professional creative artists have an opportunity to spend three months in Japan pursuing their art and learning about artistic expression in Japan.

New Year’s Greetings

New Year’s Greetings from Executive Director, Paige Cottingham-Streater.   The previous year witnessed transition for the Commission and political, economic and international challenges for the people of Japan and the United States.  Perhaps the most devastating of all, were the tragic events of March 11.  The outpouring of support for Japan and those affected by the earthquake, tsunami and nuclear crisis has been as overwhelming as the devastation itself, and reassuring for the future of the US-Japan relationship.  I am optimistic about the year of the dragon and what it can mean for the US-Japan Friendship Commission and the US-Japan relationship.   I believe the possibilities to deepen our ties of friendship and have meaningful impact on the people of two strong nations, is only limited by our own imagination.  We approach the year with renewed energy and optimism.  We invite our friends in Japan and the United States who share our commitment to the US-Japan relationship to be our partners and collaborators.  During the year ahead, the Japan-US Friendship Commission is dedicated to sustaining the US-Japan relationship through grant-making as well as relationship building.  We encourage
