JUSFC Celebrates Executive Director’s One Year Anniversary

July 16, 2012 –

One year ago, Executive Director Ms. Paige Cottingham-Streater assumed leadership of the Japan-U.S. Friendship Commission, setting the course for deepening the impact of the Commission’s investments in people and partnerships.  In her new role, Ms. Cottingham-Streater met past and potential grantees to gain first-hand understanding about the important work individuals and institutions in Japan and the United States have been doing to promote scholarship about the two countries, and encourage interest in the U.S.-Japan relationship.  Under her leadership, the Commission re-examined its funding priorities and included a new grant category, Global Challenges, to better reflect the prominence of the Japan-U.S. relationship in a broader context. Ms. Cottingham-Streater commented, “This year has been rewarding as we’ve highlighted the work of our grantees more broadly, supported core programs and encouraged new and innovative projects.”
