Today, on Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, the Japan-U.S. Friendship Commission (JUSFC) remembers the American lives lost 80 years ago on December 7, 1941, and re-affirms its mission to support, strengthen and sustain the U.S.-Japan partnership. JUSFC was established as an independent federal agency by the United States Congress (P.L. 94-118) in 1975 to strengthen the U.S.-Japan alliance through educational, cultural, and intellectual exchange. As we enter the third decade of the 21st century, JUSFC’s focus is on the next generation stewarding this unique and ever-important alliance forward.
