June 1 WEBINAR: Sustaining and Supporting Japan Studies: Funding Opportunities for U.S.-Japan Student Exchanges

The Japan-U.S. Friendship Commission is hosting a webinar on June 1, 2020 1:00 p.m.-2:30 p.m. (EDT) for representatives of colleges and universities, who have experience, or are interested in organizing faculty-led student exchanges between the United States and Japan.

  •     Would a consortium of colleges and universities offering faculty-led student exchanges to Japan strengthen   Japan Studies and increase funding opportunities or capacity?
  •     What types of exchange programs are attractive to students, faculty and funders?
  •     What are the ways to start a consortium?

Join Professors Mahua Bhattacharya (Elizabethtown College), Maura Devlin (Bay Bath University)  Alisa Freeman (University of Oregon), Tara McGowan (North American Coordinating Council for Japanese Language Resources) and Anne Prescott (Five College Center for East Asian Studies) for a  discussion moderated by JUSFC Commissioner Prof. Patricia Maclachlan (University of Texas at Austin). Paige Cottingham-Streater, Executive Director of the Japan-U.S. Friendship Commission will provide the funder’s perspective.
